Our Story
Our story began in the 1940s when our grandparents, James and Ruth Wilson, started selling chenille bedspreads, hand-hooked rugs, and Cherokee-made products made in North Carolina on the Qualla Reservation. When the new interstates were being paved across the country, Ruth and her children traveled west and set up shop. In 1967 the Cherokee Trading Post and Restaurant was opened by Mrs. Barbara (Wilson) Clark at our current location in Clinton Ok. Today the businesss is owned and operated by her daughter Mrs. Juanima Brinkley.
In 2012, we closed our restaurant after many years of faithful patronage. This allowed us to expand our giftshop to include more than 10,000 square feet of Western cowboy boots, work boots, jackets, cowboy and Indian wear, moccasins, turquoise jewelry, toys, Native American headdresses and bustles, and more—most of which are made here in the United States and in Oklahoma.
Today, we’re proud to remain a family-owned-and-operated company since 1967 with a physical and online presence. Be sure to check out our online store. We look forward to serving you and your loved ones soon.
